New Mary Kay Bronzing Powders Review
I was a fan of Mary Kay's old Mineral Bronzing Powders, so I was a little sad when I heard that they were being discontinued. Luckily they have come out with these new powders which I've been using for the past few weeks!
Mary Kay Bronzing Powder
Price: $18
Available on marykay.com or through a Mary Kay Consultant
This product comes in sleek, plastic containers that feature removable pans which you can place in a Mary Kay custom compact.
There are 2 different shades: Light-Medium and Medium-Dark. The lighter shade is a pretty neutral light brown shade, and the darker shade is a little warmer. Neither of come off orangy on the skin. These also have a slight sheen to them. I don't see shimmer on the skin, but there is definitely a nice glow that still looks very natural
I'm happy with the pigmentation on this product because these shades aren't sheer, but they aren't so pigmented that people with lighter skin would have a hard time using them. They also blend very easily into the skin, so they won't look to harsh and dark.
Here is a swatch of the dark shade (top) and the light shade (bottom):
I normally wear the darker shade, I don't really have any issues with lasting power. I can get about 6+ hours of wear before it starts to fade, which is pretty decent to me. I think these shades work great to warm up the complexion after face makeup is applied, and the dark shade is also a decent contour shade. I wish there was one more shade that is even darker than the dark shade because it would be perfect for contouring on medium to deep skin tones.
Overall, this is a great product and I would repurchase it. I wish it was a little cheaper, but I really like the finish and the color of the dark shade on my skin tone. I think a wide range of skin tones could get good use out of these shades. I think if you try this you won't be disappointed, but there may be cheaper alternatives at the drugstore.
Do you plan on trying this out? What are your favorite products to bronze and contour with?
